Dark to Light

Out of a time when nobody cared,
a time came about when even one did.
All thoughts went unsaid,
except for those who were prepared to turn on the others
when opinions did clash.

For a fight would be fought,
not on a field of blood,
but on data and falsehoods where truth was hidden.
for they turn and twist the light from the dark.
and made it all seem like a world left behind.

All hope would then fade and no light would shine,
hate and despair would be drove like a knife.
A thief in the night, like the crimes in our streets,
would steal away all the good we wished to see.
Those who held on stayed silent, as watch as time passed by.

Into the streets the people did go,
to raise voice high for a cause not well informed.
Rights that were won on the blood of our own,
not one with voices raised agree it belonged.
Torn down the haunted memories of those who long fought/

Down came the legacy of those who were slain,
who had spilled their own blood for voice could raise.
So we'd walk the streets with heads held high,
our truth could be spoken without that ride or die.
but those who were proud now silently hide.

The ones who stood tall and fought for the truth
were cursed and rebuked for not following the rules.
They were to blame for spreading the plight
when the ones in the streets were full of looting and fight.

When we see the pyre of the mass ever grow,
we wonder when will sweet relief finally grow.
A small kernel of hope hidden deep in a girl,
who prays to the sky and hope for a fill.
Please take this away and save our land,
for in you alone, we see the truth.
And now we stand,
for what is right,
we can't stay behind and let a world fall to dark.
Keep your eyes to the sky and now see the light.
