Space Audio or Bust

It was only a matter of time before Jamik landed that job he had been wanting aboard the dreadnought Maverick. Jamik had been trying for the last 2 years since he graduated from one of the top schools on planet Arcania to be one of the leading audio engineers in the tech development center of the military and he finally got the interview.

Jamik waiting 3 long months for this interview. They wanted an in-person interview so they could test his skills in person and truly evaluate his true skill under pressure. This was testing him mentally already. He sat at home, hoping this would go well. Wondering what drills they may put him through. Jamik was confident in his skills, but he wasn't expecting to be put to the test before he even got the job. The Maverick was high tech, well-maintained Vessel, able to travel through space at a speed of 5 Quintilian meters per hour (that is a little over half a light-year). For a large war vessel, this was fast. But for it to be as fast and stealthy as the Molglaire's wanted it to be it had to have the crew it did.

With all this pressure building up against him he decided to head to his favorite place, one where he could get lost in a drink and listen to the music blare from the audio system he rigged up for a good friend of his. Grabbing his card and holstering his firearm, he set out toward Aurora Starlight. Aurora Starlight wasn't just a bar for music and drinks, but a place for people to interact and lose themselves in sinful ways without law enforcement knocking on their door. This was the only place someone could trade drugs, solicit themselves, and betray their own. Why you may ask? Well, only a very select handful of people knew how to get to this place. Aurora Starlight sounded like a hip place for the youngest of legal aged adults to come and spend their money on cheap beer and women to pass their time. This was a dank dirt hole that only the skeeziest of low lives would invest in.

Jamik entered the Aurora and walked up to the bar to find Alec pouring drinks as he watched someone trade MARS for a bag of cash.

"What will it be Jamik?" asked Alec asked inquisitively.

"Well Alec, I have the interview in the morning, but I need to shake these nerves," Jamik responded and a blue-skinned female came up to him and laid a hand softly on his broad shoulder.

"I think I can help with that." the female retorted with a soft smirk and a lick of her lips.

Jamik glanced up at the female, his eyes roving over her body. Imagining what he would do if that was the high he was after. After all, he had a lady at home and that wouldn't be fair to her. "How do you take it?" she winked, looking him up and down again.

She stood behind him now, two hands on his shoulders. Jamik's mind was lost in thought at the fantasy that could unfold before him if he were to just say yes, give her a simple nod and tell her to have his way with him. It would definitely be one way to take his mind off things. The excitement of his honest and good relationship wasn't what it use to be and he could use a good shake-up.

Jamik was not an ugly man by any definition of the word. In fact, he was a pretty good looking man. Clean, well-cut hair, athletic build for a computer audio nerd. His square CapTec glasses were the only hint that he might be computer smart for that matter. Black frames surrounded his ice-blue eyes, as he continued to ponder the offer, but raised his hand. Pushing the unfaithful thoughts from his mind and shook his head.  J

"I really just want a strong drink," he finally responded. The female frowned her hopes of getting lucky with someone of his appearance shattered. She sighed and sauntered off to find another willing customer to make her night a little more interesting, disappointed that she was shut down so quickly.

"Your usual?" Alec questioned and he goes to grab a short class from the sterilizer.

"Make it a double," Jamik grumbled as he buried his head in his arms, now a little ashamed of the thoughts that had crossed his mind not just one minute ago.  Alec had the drink mixed up in a matter of seconds, set it before Jamik.

"Starting a tap?" he asked wondering how his regular would pay this time.

"Yeah start me one, I'll probably have a couple more of these. " He said as he lifted his head and then the electric violet drink to his lips and down it and drowned his nervousness in his newfound drunken stupor.
